Is it possible to build a product with the very purpose of conserving and celebrating the materials from which it was constructed?

Well that is the philosophy behind Environment Furniture. Each piece is crafted from fine rare materials in a style that mimics the fundamental designs of nature and mirrors the very simple beauty that it has to offer, leaving the world with a truly contemporary design that is undoubtedly organic in its origins. Sharp angular lines, married with warm solid woods creates a perfect balance between human sophistication, and the simplicity of mother nature. The master craftsmanship of each Environment creation is the culmination of experience, design expertise, and of course the absolute finest materials, making it possible to have one piece of furniture that will last for generations.

The wood is reclaimed from century old buildings and brought back to life. What was once a support beam for a mill, or a piece of siding from a barn, is now an armoire, bed or dresser. Of those materials that are not reclaimed, only the most responsible of harvesting methods are used and due to the manufacturing process, waste is kept at a minimum.

So is it the responsible thing to do to own one of Environments masterpieces? I would say yes but it also greatly depends on your taste. Although each set has its own feel and personality, they all follow a similar design philosophy that seems to combine the asian love for smooth angular surfaces, and the european taste for simplicity, comfort and functionality. In the end, you have to judge for yourself.
